Exploring Roles in the ECE Community: Local and State Levels

The Children’s Defense Fund - http://www.childrensdefense.org/about-us/
Investments in early childhood are vital to the success of our nation's youth. Extensive research has shown that early childhood programs significantly increase a child's chances of avoiding the prison pipeline. Furthermore, these programs have well-documented economic and societal value. Studies have shown that investments in quality early education can produce a rate of return to society significantly higher than returns to most stock market investments or traditional economic development projects. - See more at: http://www.childrensdefense.org/policy-priorities/early-childhood-education-care/?gclid=CNOqt42LhrwCFQmIfgodIyYAZA#sthash.oWpu3RAa.dpuf

Below are just some of the Links that National Parenting Educational Network has to offer:

The reason why I chose these particular organizational websites is because, although early childhood development are very important, in my opinion the family unit can be and oftentimes is the foundation of the child’s success or lack of.  These particular programs not only focus the child’s early childhood development they focus of the entire family’s well-being as a whole unit and not just as a part.

  1. Anita,
Thanks for sharing your post and great resources!!! I totally agree with your statement, "the family unit can be and oftentimes is the foundation of the child’s success or lack of" (Anita Coles, 2014). It amazes me how some families refuse to play an active role in their child's life but it is nice to know that there are resources like the National Parenting Education Network, which will provide them with support to become more active in the learning environment and promote healthy development. Thanks again for sharing and the best of luck to you!!!!

  2. Hi Anita,
It is clear that you are truly an advocate for families. I love the Children's Defense Fund and had an opportunity to do some volunteering there. Downside is the traffic. I hate driving in D.C. Total nightmare!
You mentioned in your comment to my blog that there seems to be more opportunities in large cities. There are also more people--lots of competition! There can be hundreds of applicants for one position. While there are always some kinds of opportunities available, it may not be the position you were looking for.
    Great blog this week!

  3. Anita,
I so agree that the family must have the same support as the children. I don't know that it is stressed enough in undergraduate early childhood education, that parent engagement is the key to children's success. Also the Children's Defense Fund is the greatest organization, I get updates and newsletter a couple times a week. Good luck in your continued search.
